Wypowiedź Arnolda z książeczki płyty:
In 2005 London invited the world to the Olympics.
The world rsvp’d and in 2012 they arrived.
The world’s greatest athletes arrived in our country –
in our capital – with their thousands of supporters
and millions more watching around the globe.
And, over two spellbinding weeks, made the London
2012 Olympic Games one of the greatest ever.
The athletes made London change, they galvanised
the nation with their strength, dedication and
endeavour to simply be the best at what they do.
They made us feel differently about ourselves and
others, in the best possible way.
They were met by an army of volunteers, themselves
eager to participate in any way they could. And those
volunteers became as essential to the success of the
Games as the athletes themselves.
There was only ever going to be one way for us to
thank them all and simultaneously celebrate the closing
of the Games and that was going to be with music,
our greatest cultural export (I’m biased). It would be
the foundation upon which we could build what is,
hopefully, the best after-show party you could imagine.
So from all of us who wrote, played, recorded,
produced and sang on this soundtrack, we say
‘Thank you, and come back soon.’ We’ve got
enough amazing music to last us 100 Closing
Ceremonies. It’s almost a shame we
can only have one.
