QUARTET RECORDS - PLANY WYDAWNICZE
Nie warto chyba każdym nowościom zakładać osobne tematy, więc tworzę temat zbiorczy.
2 nowości, premiera 21.10.2015 r.
BASIC INSTINCT (2-CD SET)
Music by Jerry Goldsmith
Limited edition of 2000 units
Retail price: 21,95€
Avalability date: 10/21/2015
Available now for pre-order
Crossing legs! Quartet Records and Studio Canal are proud to present the ultimate 2-CD set of Jerry Goldsmith’s Academy Award® nominated noir score for Paul Verhoeven’s classic erotic thriller Basic Instinct (1992), starring Michael Douglas and Sharon Stone.
For his second collaboration with director Paul Verhoeven (after Total Recall), Jerry Goldsmith composed one of his most famous and iconic scores—atmospheric and sensual, elegantly orchestrated, with a memorable main theme reminiscent of Bernard Herrmann.
At the time of the film’s premiere, Varèse Sarabande issued a fabulous 45-minutes CD produced by Goldsmith himself—a masterful presentation of the score’s highlights. Ten years later, Prometheus Records released an expanded version, with much of the music presented in film order, but still missing a pivotal moment and several alternate takes. Now, 23 years later, Quartet Records has finally done justice to this Goldsmith masterpiece. This new release includes all of the music recorded for the film, with correct edits, actual track titles, “An Unending Story” as heard in the film, and alternate takes recorded by Goldsmith for the shorter R-rated version of the film. Also included is the original album produced by the composer, featuring some slightly shorter cues and an alternate ending. All of the music was recorded in London with Goldsmith conducting The National Philharmonic Orchestra.
Both film score and album version have been entirely remixed and remastered from the original digital multi-track tapes by original scoring mixer Bruce Botnick for this edition—the score has, quite simply, never sounded better! Produced by Neil S. Bulk and Bruce Botnick, the album includes in-depth liner notes from film music writer Daniel Schweiger in a lavishly designed 24-page full-color booklet.
KISS THE GIRLS (3-CD SET)
Music by Mark Isham
Unused Score by Carter Burwell
Limited edition of 1000 units
Retail price: 25,95€
Avalability date: 10/21/2015
Available now for pre-order
Quartet Records and Paramount Pictures present a mammoth 3-CD set with the world premiere release of the complete original score composed by Mark Isham (A River Runs Through It, Cool World, Point Break, Blade)—plus the unused score composed by Carter Burwell (Miller’s Crossing, Rob Roy, Gods and Monsters, Twilight)—for the 1997 psychological thriller Kiss the Girls, directed by Gary Fleder, starring Morgan Freeman, Ashley Judd and Cary Elwes, and based on the best-selling novel by James Patterson.
Mark Isham contributed a striking dramatic work, using a mix of electronics and conventional orchestra—one that underscores the pulsating nature of the story while incorporating a darkly romantic undercurrent. But Isham’s score for Kiss the Girls was not the only music written for the picture. Originally, acclaimed composer Carter Burwell had been signed to score the film, and his fully recorded, unused score makes its debut here.
The complete Mark Isham score appears on Discs One and Two of this release; we have also included the 30-minute suite selected by the composer for the original album released by Milan Records in 1997. The complete Carter Burwell score appears on Disc Three. Both scores are presented in stereo from pristine-condition digital scoring session mixes courtesy Paramount Pictures. The elegant, 24-page full-color booklet includes exclusive liner notes written by Andy Dursin.

TOTAL RECALL (2-CD SET)
Music by Jerry Goldsmith
Limited Edition of 3000 Units
Retail Price: 21.95€
Available on 12/15/2015
Iconic Score from Iconic Composer Now with Material Never Heard Before
Celebrating the 25th anniversary of the landmark science fiction blockbuster Total Recall, Quartet Records and Studio Canal present Academy Award-winner Jerry Goldsmith’s thrilling score on an all-new 2-CD special edition. Directed by Paul Verhoeven (RoboCop, Basic Instinct) and starring Arnold Schwarzenegger and Sharon Stone, Total Recall helped change the future of cinematic imagery, while Goldsmith’s score marked a culmination of styles and techniques the composer had developed over four decades of composing for film and television.
Total Recall represents one of the iconic composer’s last masterpieces, recorded with the National Philharmonic Orchestra of London, under his own baton. With this edition, Quartet has expanded upon all of the previous releases of the score, allowing fans of the film and of great music to experience the intrigue, the action, and the exotic world of Total Recall like never before. For the first time, the score as written for the film can now be heard—and with the actual film performances. Cues such as “The Dream” and “The Implant” feature previously unreleased takes, while “Where Am I?” and the “End Credits” make their debut. Exciting bonus tracks include a variety of source cues and an alternate performance of “Clever Girl” from the films original German recording sessions!
Disc One contains the film score, while Disc Two features the original 1990 soundtrack album, alternates, and source music. All of this material—nearly 2 ½ hours in total—has been entirely remixed and remastered from the original digital multi-track tapes by Goldsmith’s longtime scoring mixer, Bruce Botnick. Produced by Neil S. Bulk and Botnick, this new edition includes authoritative liner notes from film music writer Jeff Bond, featuring new interviews with director Paul Verhoeven, music editor Ken Hall, composer Bruno Louchouarn, and Botnick—all presented in a lavishly designed 24-page full-color booklet. With every beat, every cue, and everything you could want to know about the making of this iconic score, it’s more than the definitive release--it’s the release of your dreams.
TOM SAWYER (2-CD SET)
Music & Lyrics by Richard M. Sherman & Robert B. Sherman
Music Conducted and Adapted by John Williams
Limited Edition of 1500 Units
Retail Price: 19.95€
Available on 12/15/2015
Quartet Records and MGM are proud to present an expanded 2-CD set featuring the delightful songs composed by Richard M. Sherman and Robert B. Sherman (Mary Poppins, The Happiest Millionaire, Bedknobs and Broomsticks), supervised and conducted (with background score composed by) the legendary John Williams.
Based on the immortal novel by Mark Twain, this 1973 musical version, with the classic American literature characters Tom Sawyer and Huckleberry Finn, was directed by Don Taylor (The Island of Doctor Moreau, Damien: Omen II), and starred Johnny Whitaker, Jeff East, Celeste Holm, Warren Oates and a very young Jodie Foster.
Ten original Sherman Brothers songs (plus the instrumental Overture and Finale) were released on LP by United Artists at the time of the film’s premiere, but some songs were truncated, and a lot of reverb was used in the mixes (the orchestra is almost nonexistent behind the songs). The same program was reissued on CD in 2004 by Varese Sarabande, but sadly the tapes were transferred at incorrect pitch and speed—and the underscore composed by John Williams was still almost entirely missing.
While preparing this new reissue with a proper transfer, we were lucky to find, mislabeled, the 16´´ multi-tracks (eight channels for orchestra, eight for voices) including previously unreleased material. The slightly expanded album has been restored by Chris Malone and remixed by José Vinader, and offered here in full stereo. In the multi-tracks we found not only the original (uncut) version of “Hannibal-Mo,” but also some portions of the underscore. We have also used this opportunity to offer the songs in their instrumental-only versions, where you can appreciate the wonderful orchestrations of Mr. Williams, reminiscent of the Americana sound of The Reivers or The Missouri Breaks.
On the second CD we have included all of the songs heard in the film (in their original, complete form) plus the entire underscore. Unfortunately, the only available source was the mono music stem preserved by MGM. Not the best source, and although it showed signs of deterioration and some distortions in the voices, it has been carefully restored and mastered by Doug Schwartz at Mullholland Music, and it is the only way to finally have an archival edition of this wonderful score. The full-color 24-page booklet includes in-depth liner notes from film music writer John Takis, including an interview with Mr. Richard Sherman.
FERNANDO VELÁZQUEZ Concert Suites / Music for Films
Euskadi Symphony Orchestra
Landarbaso Chorus
Fernando Velázquez, Conductor
Retail Price: 16,95€
Available on 12/15/2015
Spanish composer Fernando Velázquez is one of the most personal voices in the current film music community. Despite his youth, he has scored more than thirty films, from intimate histories (Savage Grace, For the Good of Others) to epic blockbusters (Hercules, The Impossible), horror (Devil, Mama), gothic dramas (The Orphanage, Crimson Peak), comedies (Ocho apellidos vascos, Sexy Killer) and fantasy (Zip & Zap and the Marble Gang, The Adventurer).
This album, designed for pure listening pleasure, features Fernando’s emotional, melodic, elegant, ever-changing but always personal style. It includes seven orchestral concert suites especially recorded for this CD. The composer has chosen to focus on Spanish films, and especially on three directors with whom he has worked most assiduously, and with whom he began composing for film: J.A. Bayona, Óskar Santos and Koldo Serra. Suites from The Impossible, The Orphanage, For the Good of Others, Zip & Zap and the Marble Gang and Lope are augmented by premiere recordings of The Backwoods (his first film score!), and El hombre esponja, a short film by J.A. Bayona which—along with its music—is a tribute to adventure films of the eighties.
Performed by the marvelous Euskadi Symphony Orchestra and Landarbaso Chorus, under the baton of the composer, the album was recorded by Marc Blanes at the orchestra stage in San Sebastián. The 28-page booklet includes notes by Fernando Velázquez and directors Bayona, Santos and Serra.

Przeglądając tracklistę TR nie widzą absolutnie powodu, by wymieniać Deluxe'a na 2CD. Raptem jeden numer ze score i to będący suitą poprzednich + drugi krążek pełen jakiegoś dodatkowego planktonu i wycinka oryginalnego albumu. Nabijanie kabzy IMO. Varese rządzi!

Re: QUARTET RECORDS - PLANY WYDAWNICZE
Czy mogę kogoś poprosić aby zrobił zdjęcia wydań/bookletów "Basic Instinct" i "Total Recall" od Quartetu? I jakaś opinia na temat dźwięku tych albumów w stosunku do poprzednich wydań? Będę wdzięczny za pomoc
Re: QUARTET RECORDS - PLANY WYDAWNICZE
