A propos zagadek twórczości Morricone... Na genialnym Secret of Sahara dwoma numerami dyryguje Franco Ferrara. Tak mnie zastanawia dlaczego nie Morricone. Ktoś coś wie coś na ten temat? Z mojego "śledztwa" wynika, że Ferrara zmarł w 1985 roku, a więc na kilka lat przed nagraniem tego albumu. W związku z tym to są jakieś chyba jakieś okazyjne utwory, które nie powstały do tego miniserialu o.O

Te dwa utwory Morricone skomponował na potrzeby "Biblii" z roku 1966 (napisał 15-16 minut muzyki, którą nagrał Franco Ferrara jako dyrygent, ale potem Morricone dostał rejecta). I tak potem pierwszy z tych utworów pojawił się na ścieżce do Powrotu Ringo, a następnie oba te utwory pojawiły się na Sekrecie Sahary.

Aaaa, faktycznie, ale pojawia się tam w skróconej wersji. A Powrót Ringo to przecież 1965 rok.

Z tego co wiem, to Morricone nagrał te kilkanaście minut na potrzeby screen testu, więc pewnie nastąpiło to jeszcze w 1965 roku i po prostu zdążył je wstawić do "Powrotu Ringo". Cała historia muzyki do "Biblii" Hustona to spory miszmasz. Poza tym jeszcze trzy fragmenty z tej niewykorzystanej ścieżki miały się pojawić w "Il Giardino delle delizie" w 1967.

To są takie historie internetowe bazujące na książce Sergio Micellego o Morricone (po włosku). Z tego co widzę nawet wiki ją cytuję, więc przeklejam odpowiedni fragment:

One of Morricone's first contributions to an American director concerned his music for the religious epic film The Bible: In the Beginning by John Huston. According to Sergio Miceli's book Morricone, la musica, il cinema, Morricone wrote about 15 or 16 minutes of music, which were recorded for a screen test and conducted by Franco Ferrara. At first Morricone's teacher Goffredo Petrassi had been engaged to write the score for the great big budget epic, but Huston preferred another composer. RCA Records then proposed Morricone who was under contract with them, but a conflict between the film's producer Dino De Laurentiis and RCA occurred. The producer wanted to have the exclusive rights for the soundtrack, while RCA still had the monopoly on Morricone at that time and did not want to release the composer. Subsequently Morricones' work was rejected because he did not get the ok by RCA to work for Dino De Laurentiis alone. The composer reused the parts of his unused score for The Bible: In the Beginning in such films as The Return of Ringo (1965) by Duccio Tessari and Alberto Negrin's The Secret of the Sahara (1987).

Generalnie z tym filmem wiązane było multum nazwisk: Petrassi, Morricone, Strawiński, Rozsa, no i w końcu score napisał Toshiro Mayuzumi. Ot, jeden z tytułów, które uwielbiają soundtrackowi plotkarze.

'.... I had a contract with Paramount for 'Judith', a romantic adventure tale with Sophia Loren and Peter Finch. Suddenly an offer came from Rome to score 'The Bible'. I felt that this might be the crowning work of my 'Biblical period' and was anxious to score the film. Paramount reluctantly let me out of my contract. The agents called from Rome, confirmed the deal but told me that they had difficulties getting the customary living expenses for the period of my contract with producer Dino de Laurentiis. I waited. Two weeks later I found out that they had engaged a jazz arranger (!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!), Ennio Morricone, as a 'try out'. He wrote one sequence which was recorded, but they didn't like it. I was cabled everything would work out. In the meantime, the film's director, John Huston, had heard a record of music from the film 'Tokyo Olympiad' and decided that was what he wanted. Said the Irish genius: 'It has a new sound, like the voice of silence'. They approached the Japanese embassy in Rome in order to ferret out the Japanese Beethoven, and got Toshiro Mayuzumi. I wasn't even told they were sorry I had lost 'Judith' because of their irresponsibility. As Mayuzumi had no name value they also engaged Goffredo Petrassi, a fine Italian composer, and divided the score between them. First, Petrassi's music was recorded with a huge orchestra. It was beyond their understanding, and they sent Mr. Petrassi packing. The Japanese genius, who wrote what they wanted, completed the score alone, borrowing from every style of every musical epoch.'

Nic dziwnego, bo Ennio na początku lat 60. był popularnym włoskim kompozytorem i aranżerem piosenek pop i jazz. Dopiero od Leone zaczęła się jego prawdziwa kariera w innej branży.

Pamiętam jak byłem w Kraku w 2007 roku na Enniu to sobie myślałem, trzeba go zobaczyć, pewnie to już jego ostatnie "występy" - tym bardziej na żywo, a tu nie dość że w Polsce od tamtego czasu był chyba dwa razy to jeszcze po tych 6 latach jest chyba najczęściej koncertującym kompozytorem filmówki
