Agent, potrafisz napisać dwa zdania bez użycia słów "Bond" lub "Skyfall"?

#1118 Post autor: Adam » sob gru 01, 2012 17:57 pm

“[…], but damn...in all honesty Shore never even crossed my mind as to whom I would have picked to do the score. Yes, as previously stated, it is ballsy. I dunno...his thematic approach to film is unconventional […] Its a wait and see approach with me. Can he write a score that will encompass a sweeping, epic feel to it? Or is that even what Peter Jackson is going for? […] I think they should have gotten someone else, but hey, you never know. Peter Jackson must know something that we dont. I can only hope he has made the right choice. He just wouldnt have been mine for this type of film.”

“Very interesting, indeed... “

“WHAT ? It would be "The Silence Of The Rings"... For a new sound... we'll have "Seven meets Nobody's Fool"... Wait and see ! “

“Shore is one of the more fascinating composers out there and I'm glad someone out there had the balls to sign this guy.”

“I don't really care who has been signed on, but stil Shore is IMHO maybe not the best pick.”

“[…] the composer they should have selected in the first place, this being Trevor Jones and possibly even better than that would be a Jones/Kilar collaboration. Shore has not yet shown me, in anything that I have of his, that he is capable of writing anything in the fantasy epic genre.”

“I'm not sure whether to be pleased or disappointed about the possibility of Shore doing the score. Still, I would prefer someone like James Newton Howard.”

“Yes, Shore is on the road... but I don't know if he got the POWER... My choice... ELLIOT GOLDENTHAL !!!!! “

“Would not John Williams be a great choice for this?”

“My choice would be Patrick Doyle.”

“If Shore's name holds for this job, then he may be the biggest winner of this decade if his talents can carry him.”

“I'm looking to hear his score ideas (if he's really going to do it, anyway!), although I'm not a fan of Shore myself. The best composer in my opinion is going to be John Debney. Something like Cutthroat Island: big orchestra, big choir, big themes, just BIG! Well, we'll see next year!” (CK)

“I'm looking forward to hear his work for Tolkien's classic tale. I'm hoping that Shore's coming up with big themes, the London Symphony Orchestra and the London Voices. I'm confident that he's going to do a good job. We'll hear in about 420 days, folks!” (CK)

“This is great news. Shore is one of the finest film music composers around.
He deserved a blockbuster such LOTR since a long time (and we too!). What a relief. To think some people were considering Danny Elfman do score it!“

“I think that would be interesting if Danny Elfman composed the music for LOTR.”

“Cool. I can't wait to hear it. He has a important job ahead of him...the LOTR movies are going to be huge!”

“I was really excited when his name was mentioned in connection with Lord of the Rings. I'm sure Howard Shore will do a great job, but I'll bet a Kilar fantasy epic would be something to behold.” (JB)

“Actually, Shore would be perfect. Goldsmith gets annoying after a while. Horner has said all he had to say. Elfman just does not have that former magic touch. Newton Howard's too repetitive (stylistically). Eidelman's gone. Silvestri or Arnold, either way it would be too bombastic for nothing.[…] I dislike most of Shore's scores, though they fit well with the movie. I find his music rather average, if not bellow average. That said, considering that the Lord of the Rings is mainly suspense, scenery, food and flashbacks, with very little real/heart pounding action, Shore would fit the movie perfectly. He has the talent to portray the Dark Lord, and the cute halflings, the valour of the warriors, and the magic of the elves, and everything in between. I would have prefered other composers (Eidelman, Poledouris, Stone, Bramson, and others), but Shore, though surprising at first, makes lots of sense when thought about.”

“Sorry, I'm a newbie here and I'm guessing this is old news since it hasn't been discussed in the last three days. But what a terrible choice for an epic trilogy like LOTR!!!!!!!!!!”

“It's still another year before that movie is going to be released, and I'll bet right now they're just starting to look at composers. Sure, Shore is probably submitting his own demo, but I doubt he'll get it.”

“I would have loved Poledouris take on LOTR, and JNH's also, but most of the other composers you mentioned... I don't want Horner LOTR, I'm not confidant that Williams could pull it off (possible, but...) Goldsmith would be good, but I don't know if he'd do it. Arnold, Silvestri, Eidelman.. I don't really want to hear them doing LOTR either. A couple I might have wanted to do it are Carter Burwell, Robert Folk, or Bruce Broughton.”

“Well I guess we can hope that maybe Howard's score will get rejected and maybe they'll fasttrack another composer to save the show.”

“The choice of Howard Shore IMHO was inspired one, the man has his own voice and tries to bring some new ideas to the table and he can write themes.”

“Give Shore a chance, I mean Williams didn't shine until Jaws though did some great stuff before it. I'd much rather hear would Horner or Williams would have done.”

“Poledouris should be scoring LOTR.”

“David Arnold would have been my choice.”

“Arnold's got the skills to produce what it sounds like everyone wants: a big freakin' action/adventure/fantasy fully orchestral score with awesome themes and great action cues...too bad he's not on it...it would have been glorious... Good luck to you, Howard Shore...from what everyone is expecting from a LOTR score, you're gonna need it!” (BA)

“Forgive my ignorance, but what the heck is LOTR?!”

“Yes, we were all shaking our heads at The Elfman Zone when we heard that. we thought that Elfman would be picked because of his previous work with director Peter Jackson. However, I think for Elfman fans, the decision is a good one. I've always thought Shore and Elfman were on the same note, musically. They share a lot of stylistic similarities (Ed Wood SOUNDS like an Elfman piece). And in all fairness, he has proven that he can take on different styles. So I think we need to give him the benefit of the doubt.”

“You never know. He could surprise us. But Shore wouldn't be my first choice. I was hoping it would be someone whose work I was familiar with. I'd want Goldsmith for a film like these, or John Williams. But I'll give Shore a chance. “

“He wouldn't give ANYTHING away about the actual content of the score, but let slip that Jackson had hired him on the basis of hearing scores like Big and Mrs Doubtfire - not because they were comedies, but because of the thematic, melodic content - which leads me to thinking that Shore could be writing some big, sweeping stuff here.” (JB)

“What the heck happened to Loreena McKennitt? I heard and read her name attached to all three films for many months, then all of a sudden it's Enya doing the songs. What gives? I'm not complaining about Enya (in fact, I've never even heard her), but I was really looking forward to McKennitt's contributions. She's very talented.”
