JAMES HORNER - BLACK GOLD / CRISTIADA
Re: JAMES HORNER - BLACK GOLD // CRISTIADA (FOR GREATER GLOR

James Horner’s generically sweeping score — a score that, it should be said, still often lends a larger sense of scope than the direction itself does, despite so much horseback travel occurring along such wide open countryside
The symphonic score by James Horner confers an inspirational mood that is uplifting without being syrupy.
Behind each scene is an impressive score by James Horner that brings the scenes to life and adds intrigue to the story.
a lush James Horner score
a great musical score by James Horner.
James Horner’s music score is often moving, as well.
And in case you’re wondering if should feel sad or worried, James Horner’s overblown score lets you know.
It tries to compress three years of history into two hours and forty minutes, James Horner bombastic score included.
The score is a huge, sweeping, and lush one with a full brass section, loads of strings, and broad gestures.
A beautiful score by James Horner dominates most scenes, but its over-use means that, ultimately, it seems less purposeful and theme-driven than it might have otherwise.
A major distraction to the story's impact is composer James Horner's overbearing and melodramatic musical score that is almost constant throughout the entire film.
The score, alas, is heavy handed and emotional, no surprise from the pen of Titanic scorer James Horner.
and a James Horner score that makes the John Williams canon sound like classic minimalism

Re: JAMES HORNER - BLACK GOLD // CRISTIADA (FOR GREATER GLOR
niefajnie
I just saw "For Greater Glory" with a pastiche score by James Horner.
What people here might have heard while he was scoring it I have no idea of course.
Perhaps the producer/director whoever heard it and hated it, and said back to the composing desk, and since time was running out, Horner stole from himself.
BRAVEHEART is used at times openly (listen to the credits at the end) and at times with only a few notes changed here and there: listen to the music where the boy Jose is being martyred and compare it to the torture scene at the end of BRAVEHEART.
I lost count of other composers he pirated: "Mars" from "The Planets" by Gustav Holst. "Alexander Nevsky" by Serge Prokofiev. "Adagio for Strings" by Samuel Barber.
Embarrassing at the least! Dishonest at the most!

“The irony is that, from the start, we always talked about the score for BRAVEHEART
as an example of what we would love for this film then the very man who wrote that score
came on board,”
I jak to epickie bitwy bez Prokofieva ( Star Trek, Braveheart, Troja, Wróg), u Hornera to nie do pomyślenia

Re: JAMES HORNER - BLACK GOLD // CRISTIADA (FOR GREATER GLOR
jakoś Arnold potrafił zrobić Into Battle bez Prokofiewa po latach przerwy od wielkiej symfoniki
