From Doug Corner, ostatni oficjalny post przed wydaniem jak zawsze należy do Szefa 8)

9/16/2018
This week’s new release is a 2-CD expansion of a lengthy score from the 80’s, full of fantasy and excitement. A single disc issued at the time of release offered just half of this wonderful score. Now we’re bringing you the rest of it! Artwork, contents and sound samples will be posted here at Intrada late tomorrow afternoon, Monday the 17th with orders going out later this week.

Premiere expanded 2-CD release of fanciful 1987 James Horner soundtrack! Steven Spielberg presents for Amblin Entertainment, Matthew Robbins directs, Spielberg, Kathleen Kennedy, Frank Marshall executive produce, Brad Bird co-writes from a story by Mick Garris, legendary acting couple Hume Cronyn & Jessica Tandy star, Universal Pictures releases. Adding to all those megawatt names is James Horner with a lengthy, fanciful, richly emotional score full of fantasy, excitement, nostalgia and color. Originally slated as an episode of Steven Spielberg’s television series Amazing Stories, story impressed famed director to develop it for the big screen instead. Composer Horner steps up to the plate with his involved, moving musical tapestry to share the vision. Small diner setting allows for several of the composer’s signature swing-style numbers, mean-spirited tactics of real estate developers to tear down the dwelling affords Horner opportunity to infuse music with solid degree of serious drama, tender love stories both aging and young bring in nostalgia, romantic ideas while arrival of two tiny spaceships with extraordinary abilities lets Horner aim for musical fantasy and magic in healthy doses! Resulting score is dynamic meld of nostalgia, warmth, intense drama, exciting fantasy action all play in equal doses, albeit tender material supporting two leads remains at heart. Nowhere is this sensitive manner better revealed than an unusually gentle, even fragile “Getting Old” sequence - previously unreleased - featuring oboe, soprano sax and bassoon, followed by flute, harp. Delicate Coplandesque writing displays Horner at his most haunting! At the other end of the spectrum, Horner provides “The Basement” (also previously unreleased) with powerful orchestral outbursts underlining the tension of pending arson sequence. And for rousing excitement, Horner provides lengthy “Aerial Ballet” and even lengthier “The Flying Lesson” - yet two more previously unreleased sequences - to the fore. Top drawer 80’s-style Horner! Other cues balance between all previous orchestral flavors to create so much more depth than original MCA label album allowed for. Twice as much in fact! Entire 2-CD Intrada release is assembled and mastered from original 1987 two-track stereo masters engineered by Shawn Murphy at The Burbank Studios across seven days in May, 1987 and vaulted by Universal in pristine condition. Flipper-style cover art prepared by Kay Marshall for colorful booklet offers two distinctive artwork campaigns. Informative liner notes from Frank K. DeWald provide insight to release edited, mastered and produced for Intrada by Douglass Fake with executive production work from Roger Feigelson. Since complete score (90 minutes) requires two CDs, second disc also features remastered presentation of Horner’s original 1987 album. Greig McRitchie, Billy May orchestrate, James Horner composes, conducts. A knockout! Intrada 2-CD set available while quantities and interest remain!

Tam jakoś potrafią dopilnować by produkt spełniał wymogi.

Exciting 1993 Arthur B. Rubinstein soundtrack CD premiere! From Touchstone Pictures comes John Badham’s sequel to his hit 1987 action comedy Stakeout. As with the original, Badham offers profuse action and thrills with his comic touches in another tale of buddy cops Richard Dreyfuss and Emilio Estevez on the trail of bad guys, this time being no less than a local Mob boss and his deadly hitman (Miguel Ferrer) chasing after star witness Cathy Moriarty. Featured is Rosie O’Donnell as the zealous Assistant District Attorney who engages our two cops in staking out the lakeside residence where Moriarty is believed to be hiding out. Composer Arthur B. Rubinstein again scores albeit this time enlarging the scope of his music significantly with an 80-piece orchestra. The scale is bigger, the comic episodes more involved and the action is much bigger. At times its intense. This is Rubinstein doing what he does best, working with the director he is most famed for. Listeners are the beneficiaries! The shape of Rubinstein’s score is worthy of note: Intense drama and action open, then light comic material enters, soon followed by melodic development, all leading to powerhouse action segments and a rousing final shootout. When all is said and done, Rubinstein wraps with a brief unassuming coda. There are numerous highlights but the action sequences deservedly get the spotlight: After a lengthy “Main Title” set-up, “You Dump We Pump” illuminates the frightening initial bombing attack with crisp low brass punctuation over rolling left hand piano and snare. Staccato trumpets add to the terror. “Arrest Him” launches with witty harmonica and guitar but quickly dissolves into more crisp low brass and dynamic rhythmic activity as the chase gets underway. When Rubinstein zeroes in on the climactic chase and shootout sequences, all vestiges of comic play drop as the film heats up: “Dock Threat/Water Fight” gets things going with dark, intense material based on the composer’s signature harmonic vernacular of shifting minor chords in strings leading to jagged outbursts from a trio of trumpets. The grim mood remains throughout several cues, culminating in two back-to-back deadly serious action sequences: “Cops Shooting Cops” followed by “Tony Gets Gina”. Together they offer some of Rubinstein’s most ferocious action writing of his terrific career. Powerhouse! Entire CD mixed and mastered from the original 2” 24-track session masers vaulted in pristine condition by Walt Disney Pictures. Informative liner notes by John Takis, colorful “flipper-style” booklet design by Kay Marshall. Sad footnote: As this CD went into production, it was to become the last soundtrack album Mr. Rubinstein was personally involved with before his death in April 2018 of complications resulting from cancer. This important release is understandably presented in loving memory of him. John Richards mixes, Brad Warner orchestrates, Arthur B. Rubinstein composes, conducts. Intrada Special Collection CD available while quantities and interest remain!

Nie wiem, może się nie znam, ale muzyka tego kompozytora jest dla mnie strasznie płaska i najzwyczajniej w świecie nudna. Po samplach zamieszczonych na stronie wiele analogiczną nudą. Także pass...
